Fresh Almond Milk

This is an easy recipe that lets you enjoy the health benefits of almond milk without all the gut agitating additives found in store bought dairy free milks like seed oils, gums, carrageenan, etc. Keep in mind, this is not an alternative to the nutritional benefits of dairy, but it is a healthy way to enjoy the light creamy goodness of almond milk! 

Note 1: If your body is intolerant to dairy, it is recommended try raw dairy before substituting with plant milk. This is because compared to pasteurized dairy, raw dairy is more complete and easier to digest. This recipe may be good for people who do not have access to raw dairy.

Ingredients:

-       1 heaping cup of almonds

-       Water for soaking the almonds

-       Water for blending

-       A pinch of high-quality salt

-       Add-ins of choice: Dates, maple syrup, vanilla extract, etc.

Instructions

1)    Combine almonds in cold water and soak overnight or for 24 hours

2)    Discard the water 

3)    Combine almonds, water salt, and any add-ins in a blender. Blend for at least a minute

4)    Strain contents with a nut bag, and store in an airtight jar for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. There is the option to save your almond pulp and use it as almond meal for future recipes in things such as granola, cookies, etc.
