Beeswax
Beeswax is beneficial for the skin because it creates a protective layer over the skin while also acting as a humectant, meaning that it both attracts and locks in moisture. It is used in skincare to lock in the moisturizing and beneficial properties of the product and keep the skin hydrated and nourished over longer periods of time. It is also non cosmogenic meaning that it does not clog pores.
Calendula officinalis (Calendula) Flowers
Calendula flowers are native to the Mediterranean region. These flowers have become more common in holistic skincare as they have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties. These properties make calendula flowers very therapeutic for those suffering from conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and other ailments rooted in inflammation and a disrupted skin barrier.
Chamaemelum Nobile (Chamomile) Flowers
While chamomile flowers have a wide range of benefits for the skin, the main benefits that Simply Savoured has targeted this ingredient for is the soothing and calming effect it has. Its properties soothe the senses and alleviates redness and inflammation
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit seed extract can be used as a natural preservative in cosmetics and skincare. It works for this use due it is antimicrobial properties and high levels of antioxidants.
Raw Alberta Honey
Honey has been consumed as a nutrient powerhouse since ancient times. Though most think of it as just a sweet treat, it has several properties that benefit the skin: It has natural wound healing properties, it is deeply moisturizing, it helps lighten scars, it adds a natural glow/brightens skin, it is a gentle exfoliator, and an anti-inflammatory. All these properties make it a no-brainer addition to our skincare line. We used raw unheated honey to maintain a stable and rich vitamin and mineral profile in our product.
Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract
Like nettle leaf extract, horsetail extract also contains high amounts of silica, which helps contribute to healthy, shiny, and thick hair. In addition, horsetail extract is known to improve blood circulation, which means that the hair follicles are more oxygenated, therefore living a healthier and longer lifespan.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a type of carbohydrate that keeps body tissues hydrated and lubricated. It is naturally found in the skin, joints, and eyes. It is added into skincare to help your skin retain its moisture and elasticity, which in turn keeps your skin hydrated, minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, and can even heal wounds heal faster and reduce scarring.
Urtica (Nettle Leaf) Extract
Nettle leaf extra is used in Simply Savoured’s nourishing hair oil as it is helps reduce hair loss and promote hair growth. This ingredient has been used since ancient times due its anti-inflammatory properties. It is also rich in sulfur and silica and has properties of blocking DHT, which is the enzyme that is largely responsible for hair loss in humans
Non-Nano Zinc Oxide
Non-nano zinc oxide is one of the main ingredients used in holistic sun care. It protects the skin from sun damage with its natural SPF, it helps control oil production, it treats acne, and speeds up healing your skin from wounds, burns, and scarring.
Vegetable Glycerin
Vegetable Glycerin is a common ingredient in skincare used to help moisturize and soften the skin. It is a water-soluble ingredient that does not easily oxidize. It is used on our hyaluronic acid as it is the perfect ingredient to couple with the moisture sealing properties of hyaluronic acid.

Non-GMO Avocado Oil
With a similar fat profile to olive oil, avocado oil is low in poly-unsaturated fats meaning that it is stable and does not easily oxidize. It is a great moisturizer because it is easily absorbed into the skin, and it is high in vitamin e. It works as a great addition to Simply Savoured’s skincare because it has a neutral scent, thus making it compatible with our skincare formulations.
Non-GMO Apricot Oil
This oil is very dense in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, C, E, and K, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, and potassium. Apricot oil is used in Simply Savoured’s hair oil is for its incredible softening and moisturizing properties that help the hair gain and maintain its elasticity and softness
Organic Cold-Pressed Castor Oil
This ingredient is widely known as a natural ingredient used in hair loss remedies. People emphasize the use of castor oil as it is rich in proteins, vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants that all contribute to the health and longevity of each hair follicle’s lifespan. In addition, castor oil is known to increase the absorption of other products, meaning that it helps increase the benefits of all other additions to Simply Savoured’s nourishing hair oil.
Organic Cold-Pressed Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil
This oil is derived from the seeds of the jojoba plant. It is technically not an oil, but a wax ester meaning that it has a similar structure and composition to sebum, making it the perfect ingredient to balance out your skin’s complexion - it protects and moisturizes the skin without clogging your pores or leaving a greasy feeling. In addition, it has low levels of polyunsaturated fats as compared to other oils, meaning that it is more stable and less prone to oxidization, thus making it the ideal addition to our tallow-based product lines that prioritize this type of fat composition.
Organic Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
This oil has a low polyunsaturated fat profile, meaning that it is more stable than typical oils and less prone to oxidization. It is also praised for its moisturizing properties as it reduces water loss in the skin, helping it stay plump and hydrated. In addition, this oil has high levels of antioxidants, meaning that it helps protect the skin from premature aging and environmental damage.
Rice Bran Oil
Known as a beauty secret in many Asian cultures, rice bran oil is rich in fatty acids, oleic acid, linoleic acid, vitamins E and K, and antioxidants. All-in-all it is a nutrient dense cocktail to support hair growth as it keeps the scalp stimulated, increases hair elasticity, improves softness and shine, helps penetrate the hair cuticle, and adds and seals in moisture.
Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E oil is an antioxidant that acts as a barrier to seal in moisture and smooth out skin. All-in-all it heals dry skin, scars, eczema, and treats fine lines and wrinkles.
Wheat Germ Oil
Wheat germ oil encourages strength and elasticity for existing strands making it less prone to unnecessary breakage, and it is rich in vitamin e which helps hair get stronger and look healthier. It also contains long chain fatty acids that are rich in vitamin E and linoleic acid – these essential fatty acids strengthen the hair’s root and follicle. These properties also make it incredibly hydrating to the hair and is known to boost shine.
Precious Oils
Styrax Benzoin (benzoin) oil
Benzoin essential oil is used for its rich, vanilla-like smell. It has astringent properties that can minimize the size and appearance of pores.
Tanacetum annuum (blue tansy) oil
Blue tansy is from the chamomile family. This luxurious oil soothes skin from conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, and other inflammatory issues that contribute to irritation and premature aging. It also has a pleasant aromatic scent that helps relieve stress and promote relaxation.
Coffea arabica (coffee) oil
Coffee oil is stimulating for the skin. This oil has anti-inflammatory properties and is high in essential fatty acids that help your skin stay moisturized and glowing. Not only that, but its rich scent makes it a pleasant addition to your skincare formulation.
Eucalyptus globulus (eucalyptus) oil
Though Simply Savoured largely uses this oil for its cooling and therapeutic scent, it also offers many physical benefits for the hair as it is an anti-inflammatory, an antimicrobial and antifungal. Not only does it stimulate hair follicles for healthy growth, but it helps relieve those that suffer from dry, flaky, and itchy scalps.
Pelargonium graveolens (geranium) oil
Geranium oil is derived via steam distillation of the leaves of the pelargonium graveolens plant. With similar properties to rose oil, this oil works as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and is commonly used to soothe sensitive or irritated skin.
Mentha canadensis (Japanese mint) oil
Used in our hair tonic and hair oil, this oil is a vasodilator, meaning that it increases circulation, and stimulates the hair follicles on the scalp. It also offers a relaxing tingling sensation for the senses.
Jasminum grandiflorum (jasmine) oil
Jasmine oil is a luxurious exotic oil that has a delicate, sweet, and romantic scent to it. The scent of jasmine is said to be both an aphrodisiac as well as an overall mood up-lifter. This oil is an antibacterial, it is calming, it soothes eczema/extremely dry skin, heals scars, and evens the skin one. It also works to increase cell turnover.
Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil
Lavender oil acts a gentle moisturizer, an antibacterial, an anti-inflammatory, and provides a pleasant scent. Is good for a variety of skin conditions from dry and aging skin to acne or eczema prone skin. Its versatility and pleasant scent make it a great addition to skincare as it can be enjoyed by all people and skin types.
Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) oil
Lemongrass oil has purifying properties that can help treat problem skin. It is also an antioxidant. Despite its physical benefits, Simply Savoured’s use for it is mainly for its soothing scent that relaxes the senses and relieves stress.
Citrus aurantium amara (neroli) oil
Neroli is a therapeutic oil that is distilled from the bitter orange flower. It is used in our products for both its scent as well as its healing properties. Its scent is known to reduce cortisol levels in the brain. It is also very hydrating, re-energizing, and helps heal the skin with issues such as sensitivity, sun damage, dry skin conditions, acne, and scarring as it boosts the epidermis’ natural processes and helps balance out sebum production.
Rosa damascena (rose oil) & rose petals
Roses are known as a very therapeutic ingredient in skincare. The scent alone is one of the more soothing and romantic ingredients used in aromatherapy. Beyond that, rose petals work to bring your skin peace. They soothe sensitive skin, are rich in vitamin A and C, work as an anti-bacterial, help minimize age spots, boost collagen production, strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier, are high in antioxidants, and contain anti-inflammatory properties.
Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) oil
This essential oil offers many benefits for your hair and scalp. It is are stimulating, it improves scalp circulation, it cleanses the scalp, increases shine, speeds up cell turnover and growth, and works as an anti-inflammatory. In addition, rosemary oil has been shown to be just as effective as many over-the-counter hair loss remedies.
These properties also apply to our rosemary and thyme infused water used in our hair tonic.
Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil
Used in our hair tonic, this oil works as an anti-fungal. This means it targets a dry, itchy scalp, dandruff, and it soothes inflammation. This is important as keeping a clean and healthy scalp is the first step to healthy long hair
Menthae piperitae aetheroleum (peppermint) oil
Used in our hair tonic, this oil is a vasodilator, meaning that it increases circulation, and stimulates the hair follicles on the scalp. It also offers a relaxing tingling sensation for the senses.
Vanilla fragrans (vanilla oleoresin) oil
Vanilla oil is most often used for its heavenly scent. Besides its delicious smell, it also has properties that are beneficial for both your mind and body. The smell of vanilla promotes relaxation. For your skin, this oil contains b vitamins, niacin, thiamin, and pantothenic acid, helping keep your skin clear and preventing premature aging.
